If you are a graduating senior in the Descanso area, don't forget to pick up information and an application at the Descanso Library. They are available until the submission deadline, but need some careful thought. The submission deadline is May 8, 2012.

Welcome to the Friends of Descanso Library web site.
We are an all-volunteer group, and hope that you will consider joining Friends of the Descanso Library. We are only successful because of our donors and volunteers. Please support our goals by volunteering your time and financial bequests or donations.

Friends of the Descanso Library supports programs that help make the library the center of our community.
Our mission is to promote the growth and welfare of the Descanso Branch of the San Diego County Library, to enrich its resources, to make its services better known to the community, and to work with the branch manager in making these services more readily available.
One of our first projects: Provide funds to assist with the construction of our new library building in 1997.
We raise funds to purchase items the library needs. The county library budget has been reduced each of the past three years.
During 2010, we provided matching funds to assist the county in building the 500 square foot expansion. This expansion enlarged the attractive children's room and cleared space for a teen room with a laptop bar where our local teens can meet. We are planning to provide extra laptops that students may use to do homework.
Other items we have helped purchase: Computers, Book Racks, Furnishings, Computer Tables, Tables and Chairs, Craft Materials.
We volunteer for library activities:
Library volunteers assist with children's programs, Book store sales, In-Library Support, landscaping and maintaining the garden area.
We provide funds for special programs:
We fund Adult and kid's programs and provide matching funds to help purchase books, CD's, DVD's and other items.
